Infynita is a new company with a heritage. It all began in 1999 with the idea of creating a speech interface to help the disabled access the internet using voice as a user interface. As with startups, we encountered stumbling blocks at every turn - and some were thrown our way.
We probably had an opportunity to get investors' involved within months of commencing in 1999 - the market was euphoric and our ideas were exciting, but we were nervous if to accept investors, pundits advised us to get investors based on the proof-of-concept we had created but as management we realized that our endeavor was challenging. We decided to hold back until we had overcome some of the more challenging tasks ahead of us. Then the rug got pulled out from under the investors
We were in place for our services by end of 2000 and had an opportunity to deploy our first solution at a government agency in New York, which was to lead us to many more contracts. Originally, a multi-agency meeting was set for September 11 th , 2001 at 9.00 AM (within a few hundred yards of World Trade Center), only to be pushed back to September 13 th . Naturally, that meeting never took place.
In the gloom following 9/11, we took time to take stock and took steps that make for what we are today.
Our technology was designed to be optimal for deployment scenarios of $ 100,000 and up, with markets in doldrums, not many such deployments were possible.
We were too specialized and niche oriented and had to expand our scope
Chances of funding were further diminished and that we would need to accelerate our R&D and cut our costs
